Ece Doğramacı is currently serving as a Student Project Associate at The Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CSUD) for the project “Building Back Better in Hatay, Turkey”. Originally from Istanbul, Ece is a senior at Barnard College, majoring in Urban Studies with a minor in Economics. Her research interests cover urbanization and economic development in middle-income countries. Currently, she is in the process of writing her undergraduate thesis on the relationship between women’s workforce participation and early childhood education availability in urban Turkey.
Over the summer, Ece was a Development Intern at Columbia Global, where she researched the global fundraising landscape for national foundations interested in international causes. Previously, Ece served as a Finance Intern at Kolay, a SaaS B2B scale-up in Istanbul, where she conducted market research on the pricing strategies of the company’s newly-acquired Applicant Tracking System.
On campus, Ece is highly active in student leadership and advocacy. She serves as the President of the Columbia Turkish Students Association and the Vice Chair of the Governing Board at Barnard. Ece is an avid film enthusiast, and has two beloved cats back home in Istanbul.
As she continues to explore her professional interests, Ece is excited about her role as a Student Project Associate, and hopes to bring her knowledge of urban studies and economic development to bear in creating sustainable, community-focused solutions for post-earthquake rebuilding efforts in Hatay.
